UFC light heavyweight contender, Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida would be interested in a fight with former five time champion, Randy Couture according to his manager, Ed Soares.
Speaking to MMABay at a location in London, England, the site of UFC 95, Soares said:
“Yeah that was rumoured on the internet, but the way we feel about it, what an honour to fight a guy like Randy Couture. If the opportunity came up that would be a fight that we would properly contemplate taking.”
“We’d be interested in taking it, just for the simple for the honour to fight a guy like Randy Couture. He’s towards the end of his career and for a guy like Lyoto to be able to face such a great champion and such a great sports figure in MMA it would just be an honour”
The fight was originally rumored to be lined up for UFC 99 in Cologne, Germany but talk of the fight has fizzled out in recent weeks. Despite Couture ruling out any involvement with the promotions first show on mainland Europe, this fight could still go ahead if Machida has to wait for a title shot.
