Bellator Fighting Championship will make it start on April 4 and will continue for 12 weeks. The series of events will be shown on ESPNDeportes and features some known and unknown fighters. The series will involve four grand prix style tournaments from the 145 to 185 lbs.

The series starts off with the smaller guys with Eddie Alvarez vs. Greg Loughran and Jorge Masvidal vs. Nick Aguliar. Alvarez and Masvidal are considered the favorites in the 155 tourney. The 145 tourney will also be underway with two men to look for in Estevan Payan and Joe Soto.

Payan is a product of Arizona Combat Sport which is the home of WEC champ Jamie Varner and Former WEC welterweight champ Carlos Condit. Payan is 6-1 and has half of his wins by submission and Soto is 4-0 and has never been out of the first round.

The second BFC event is the very next week and will feature Wilson Reis in the 145 tourney. Reis was the lightweight champ in Elite XC and will be a real force in the 145 tourney. The event will also showcase the man with one of the most original nicknames in MMA in Jorge “the naked man” Ortiz.

Ortiz has been in the cage with some names with decision losses to John Fitch and Eugene Jackson and has a win over Jason Guida. Another fight to look out for is Victor Meza who fights out Southwest MMA alongside TUF lightweight winner Efrain Escudero. Meza is 9-0 who is a wrestler with some good submission skills.

Although the rest of the week’s events have not been finalized the series will feature former UFC welterweight champ Dave Menne, Hector Lombard, Alex Andrade and up and coming fighters Yosmany Cabezas.

Here’s the rumored lineup for the Bellator Fighting Championships on April 17:

185 lbs.: Hector “Shango” Lombard (18-2-1) vs. Virgil “The Mexican Machine” Lozano (6-1-1)
185 lbs.: Alex “El Toro” Andrade (8-4) vs. Damien Stelly (8-2)
185 lbs.: Daniel Tabera (12-1-3) vs. Jared Hess (6-0-1)
185 lbs.: Yosmany Cabezas (7-1) vs. Edwin Aguilar (20-11)
170 lbs.: Dave Menne (42-15-2) vs. Norman Paraisy (5-0)
Kerry Vera (0-0) vs. TBA

The winner of the Lombard and Lozano fight will face the winner between Andrade and Stelly, while the victor out of Tabera and Hess will square off with either Cabezas or Aguilar.

The 12-fight debut event for the organization, featuring three first round fights from both the lightweight and featherweight tournaments, will be held on April 3 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

Week two is set for the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn., on April 10, showcasing three of the first round match-ups from the welterweight tournament, as well as each of the remaining first round bouts from the lightweight and featherweight tournaments.
