Hulk Hogan recently did an interview with The Los Angeles Times and he speaks on being offered the role of Randy "The Ram" Robinson in The Wrestler, however he decided to turn it down. The following are some selected quotes from the interview:
"The movie got made and they cast Mickey Rourke...I thought he did a great job...I don't think the public could have handled it, though...Just made me realize after seeing the movie with Mickey Rourke that if someone does the real Hulk Hogan movie, you better hang on for the ride, brother."
"Made me realize how shock value - that just the drop of reality - can have an effect on the public," Hogan said. "It was wrestling light. Very light version of wrestling."
-On whether Rourke should have decided to wrestle at Wrestlemania 25: "You don't want to jade your performance or have the Hollywood community look at you like, 'you sold out."
He then related a situation where he once told The Rock to seperate himself from the wrestling world if he wanted to have a successful movie career. He went on to say that he ended up only being offered B-Movies because although he was interested in acting he always went back to wrestling, which the Holywood community would not accept.
