"The Wrestler" Comes Up Short At Last Night's Academy Awards

At last night's Academy Awards show, "The Wrestler" did not win the two top acting Oscars for which it was nominated. ]Marisa Tomei , who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress, lost to Penelope Cruz for her performance in "Vicky Cristina Barcelona," and Mickey Rourke , who was nominated for Best Actor, lost to Sean Penn for his performance in "Milk."

Penelope Cruz was considered the front-runner for the Best Supporting Actress award, and while Sean Penn's performance in "Milk" was tremendous, it came to many as a surprise that Mickey Rourke did not win considering he won every other major Best Actor award that preceded the Oscars.
