WWE has announced some early figures for 2009, and the big news is that the Royal Rumble buyrate saw a major drop compared to last year's draw. In 2008, the PPV drew 575,000 buys, while this year's show only drew 445,000 buys which is a 23% drop. Worse yet is that a majority of the buys came from foreign markets, and WWE receives less of a pay cut from non-domestic buys.

Variety.com is reporting that Stone Cold Steve Austin has signed on to appear in the upcoming Sylvester Stallone film "The Expendables." It also stars Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham, Randy Couture, and former WWE wrestler Aaron Aguilera who wrestled under the name "Jesus." The movie, which is being written and directed by Stallone, has the following synopsis listed at IMDB.com:

"After years of corruption, murder of American hostages and betrayal of foreign policies, The US with the help of other Nations secretly put together a squad of its most trained military personnel to finally overthrow the dictator who has caused devastation in South America for over 20 years. The team sets out on its mission to complete the assassination but with little help from the nations as they try to keep the mission secret. After they realize that there will be no outside help they rely on their own sources to fight not only the dictator's army but also the Governments that set them up."
