Steven Gerrard has revealed he is not planning to leave Liverpool due to his burning desire to win the Premier League at Anfield.

The Reds skipper has not accepted any prospective transfers in the past because he would cherish a title win for Liverpool more than he would for any other club.

He says that watching Chelsea and Manchester United stars lift the Premier League only makes him more determined to get his own hands on the trophy.

"When I see John Terry, Gary Neville and Rio Ferdinand lifting that trophy I want to do that, but I want to do that for Liverpool football club," Gerrard told Sky Sports News.

"I think the easy thing would be maybe to move on but it's not for me. What would be more important for me would be to win it and share it with the club and with my family who are all Liverpool fans.

"That would mean more to me than winning it maybe five or six times somewhere else."

Favours

Liverpool were in prime position to close out a victorious campaign at one point in the season but have dropped points in recent league matches.

But the 28-year-old has not given up hope yet, believing that a Manchester United collapse is possible after their 4-1 drubbing by their Merseyside rivals.

Gerrard added: "We were out there and we were flying.

"But you always knew Manchester United were going to come back with their schedule and eventually they did and we've slipped up and lost points where we shouldn't.

"It's even more frustrating now because you're saying 'what if...what if', but the important thing now is to look forward and to try and win the remaining games and hopefully other teams can do us a few favours."
